By connecting small merchants to the digital economy, we fix inefficient supply chains and provide services previously unavailable to informal businesses. Sokowatch aims to provide everything a retailer needs, no wholesalers or banks necessary.

Thousands of retailers across Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Uganda use Sokowatch's mobile ordering and delivery platform to receive the goods they need as quickly and cheaply as possible while also accessing growth financing for the first time. Role: Strategic Finance Fellow, reporting to the Global CEO

We're looking for an exceptional strategic thinker who is excited to unlock the potential of the informal economy and inspired by our mission to empower the local merchants responsible for over $600 billion of sales across Africa every year. You will build out tools to analyze the operating and financial strategy of the company and conduct quantitative analysis of current operations while evaluating the return on investment of new opportunities. You have extensive experience analyzing business fundamentals and building out financial models to accurately project business performance.



Locations: Nairobi, Kenya. Remote OK.

Requirements

Duties amp; Responsibilities:

  • Conduct strategic planning for resource allocation across the company
  • Analyze potential initiatives to maximize return and meet Sokowatch’s overall strategic goals
  • Build a comprehensive operating financial model of Sokowatch’s business while constantly incorporating the latest performance figures to continually refine the accuracy of projections
  • Present to the CEO and other leaders the growth outlook and drivers of the business
  • Identify new strategic initiatives and allocate resources for their development
  • Work alongside the CEO in supporting investor relations



Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • 4+ years overall experience in high performing operating and investing roles, including:
  • 2+ years experience in investment banking, venture capital or private equity investing; focus on technology investing in emerging markets strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience working with a high growth startup
  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA is a plus
  • Extensive business and financial modeling skillset
  • Advanced analytics skills with extensive modeling-driven decision-making experience
  • Experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to think outside the box
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills
