Job Description

Search for Common Ground (Search) is an international conflict transformation NGO that aims to transform the way individuals, groups, governments and companies deal with conflict, away from adversarial approaches and towards collaborative solutions. Headquartered in Washington DC, USA, and Brussels, Belgium, with field offices in 35 countries, Search designs and implements multifaceted, culturally appropriate and conflict-sensitive programs using a diverse range of tools, including media and training, to promote dialogue, increase knowledge and determine a positive shift in behaviors.
In this call Search for Common Ground (Search) is seeking to work with radio stations to air radio spots and talk shows to highlight the effectiveness and inclusiveness of community peace and security efforts involving youth in Coastal Kenya.
About the Project Search for Common Ground (Search), in partnership with Kenyan co-applicants Kiunga Youth Bunge Initiative (KYBI), Human Rights Agenda (HURIA), Humanity Action Knowledge Integrity in Africa (HAKI Africa) and Muslims for Human Rights (MUHURI), are implementing a comprehensive youth-focused community peace building action across the Coastal region of Kenya over a period of 36 months. The implementation of the project started in January 2018.The overall objective of the project is to show case the effectiveness and inclusiveness of community peace and security efforts involving youth in Coastal Kenya.Thematic Priorities of this activity are;
  • Show case the strengthened capacity and coordination among community-based youth and youth groups, peace and security actors in peace and security efforts in their communities.

  • Highlight increased awareness in targeted communities of the potential of youths to positively contribute to peace and security.

  • Highlight created opportunities for youths to engage with youth peers and with local leadership in support of community peace and security efforts.

Evaluation Criteria: An internal committee will assess the bids received, on the basis of: 1) Proven track record producing high-quality radio spots and talk shows for a national and international audience; 2) prior experience producing radio spots and talk shows for international NGOs in East Africa;3) Knowledge of the region; 4) value for money.As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.
