Tala is looking for a detail-oriented and dynamic Associate Manager to join our global Accounting team, with a goal to drive compliance with accounting guidance for all of Tala’s processes as we continue to grow. This position requires excellent communication skills, an ability to think curiously and critically, attention to detail, and a team-oriented attitude. The responsibilities of the role are as follows:Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of technical accounting research for new transactions and partnerships, proposing practical solutions that meet guidance (IFRS/US GAAP) frameworks
- Assist in building documentation library of our end-to-end business processes, including details on accounting treatment for each
- Assist in identification of risks and vulnerabilities in each business process, and subsequently determine plan for establishment of controls to address these risk areas
General Responsibilities:
- Assist in the refining and maintaining of Tala’s Group Accounting Policies under US GAAP and IFRS
- Preparation of technical memos outlining the accounting treatment of key transactions and/ or processes.
- Serve as the team go-to person when the question arises of how do we account for this?
- Coordinate documentation across our global Accounting team to further drive consistency and adherence to relevant accounting frameworks
- Liaise with market Accounting Managers during audits to assist with technical accounting documentation requests, along with assistance in preparation of financial statements.
- Assist with design, implementation, and monitoring of key controls over the financial reporting and closing process as being performed effectively and timely
- Ad Hoc projects as they arise, we are a start-up after all!
Requirements:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Curiosity and desire to understand how the business works, with ability to tie together business processes and technical accounting documentation
- Intrinsically motivated by attention to detail and quality of work
- Experience in technical research for multiple IFRS and US GAAP standards, as well as with documentation of business processes and technical memos
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Related Field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in the accounting and finance sector/within Public Accounting (Preferably Big 4)
- CPA
- Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner
- Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product
- Exceptional work ethic
- Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order over the same

- Experience working for a global company with teams and offices located in different geographies and time zones
- Experience working in finance/technology industry
