Role Title: Legal Counsel

Manager Role: Head of Compliance

Location: Nairobi

Flexibility: (Office Based, Hybrid as agreed with Manager)

• Advising NALA on commercial contracts, employment law, trademarks, IP, data protection, e-commerce, litigation, regulatory matters and acquisitions;
• Act as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team
• Drafting and reviewing strategic contracts and partnerships
• Advise on governance issues, risk and compliance adherence and government regulations
• Draft, review and advise on agreements e.g. terms amp; conditions, partner agreements, NDAs etc
• Own and build the process for streamlining contract filing, documentation and handling sensitive information
• Tracking and monitoring contract expiration amp; renewal and taking the right measures to make sure these are up to date
• Support the Partnerships team and the daily business in regulatory and commercial matters

• Qualified to practice law in Kenya
• Commercially aware with outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and influence key stakeholders
• Experience working with Fintechs / in Fintech Law
• Regtech / Tech law
• High degree of autonomy, discipline and a pro-active attitude
• Comfortable working in fast-paced environments

• Experience as an in-house Counsel for an early stage start-up
• Qualified to practice law in England amp; Wales
• A degree in Engineering, Computer Science or STEM subject
