Job Description
GlobalGiving is looking for an experienced professional in the African continent to work with nonprofit partners, donors and the development sector to inform, influence, deliver and strengthen our strategy for delivering community-led change. GlobalGiving is at a transformative time: we are redesigning and changing long-held systems, teams, and processes to become more equitable and community-led and achieve new levels of impact. GlobalGiving has nonprofit partners across 175+ countries and aims to establish dynamic regional hubs across Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Currently, we have regional advisors in Asia and Latin America.
We have more than 850 partner organizations in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Regional Advisor will play a critical role in enabling us to deliver innovative, relevant, and transformative approaches and programs by promoting a diverse and inclusive community of partners, facilitating community-centered offerings and programs, and leveraging internal and external partnerships. They will be responsible for working with the nonprofit organizations in the region to inform and influence the organization to advance GlobalGiving’s Africa-specific regional approach. They will work towards building a regional advisory function and extend the reach, accessibility, and value we bring to the regional nonprofit partners in our community. Initially, the successful candidate will focus on East Africa and gradually increase the scope to include the rest of Africa.
The Regional Advisor for Africa will report to the Senior Manager of Insights, Regional Advisory amp; Partnerships. They will be responsible for liaising with members of the Program and Growth teams.
Nonprofit Experience, Relationship Building, and Management
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of training and community-building activities and resources to meet the needs of nonprofit partners across the world with a focus on your region
- Support the nonprofit partners to maximize the benefits of partnering with GlobalGiving through consultation, one-on-one, and group support, such as hosting webinars, leading feedback sessions, and facilitating virtual and in-person gatherings.
- Plan and facilitate virtual and in-person spaces that aim to build relationships and create opportunities for shared learning and amplifying the voices of our nonprofit partners, particularly those that are currently underrepresented
- Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of learning and community-building programs and activities to help partners in the region access the resources they need to accelerate community-led change.
Insights and Regional Programmatic and Operational Advisory
- Contribute to research activities that help GlobalGiving understand the needs and the context of GlobalGiving's nonprofit partners. These activities include but are not limited to feedback surveys, focussed group discussions, issue-based surveys, listening sessions, virtual, partner consultation, and in-person partner visits
- Identify barriers that our nonprofit partners in the region may have to access GlobalGiving offerings and in collaboration with them and the GlobalGiving team, identify and implement potential solutions.
- Collect, analyze, and disseminate information via the GlobalGiving Insights function about trends, changes in the regulatory environment, and major news events that could potentially have an impact on our nonprofit partners in the region you oversee.
- Inform GlobalGiving of regional policy changes and trends that impact our ability to operate locally
- Provide structured advice to the Program and Growth teams on the regional context that could help us increase the relevance and benefits of GlobalGiving’s offerings for community partners.
- Provide structured advice and recommendations to the Program and Product teams for adapting existing products and services to better meet regional needs.
- Support Program and Growth teams in identifying grantee organizations that are most suitable for funding and partnership opportunities.
- Support the Growth team with insights and connection opportunities that help elevate the needs of our community partners in front of donors.
Alliance Building and Partnerships
- Identify opportunities to leverage internal and external established expertise and potential partnerships that can extend the reach, accessibility, and value we bring to our regional nonprofit partners.
- Develop a network of experts (Individuals and/or organizations) in the region whose collective expertise can act as a source of intelligence on key issues and challenges faced by the nonprofit community and can provide strategic feedback and guidance to our team.
