Zinc works with a broad range of governmental, NGO, and private sector clients, including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); the U.S. Department of State (DOS); the UK Home Office (HO); the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO); UN agencies and missions; and foundations.

Requirements

The role:

Zinc Network is seeking a Swahili-speaking social content producer capable of ideating and creating an ongoing stream of engaging and innovative social content (graphics, GIFs, video clips, Stories, text posts etc).

Working to our Senior Content Strategist and our Director of Content, you will pitch ideas for social content based on briefs you are given, and will then work at pace to see those ideas through to creation. You will design graphics, create memes and GIFs, write posts, and edit short video clips to be shared on social media. As such, you will need to be an all-rounder who is comfortable working with a range of tools including Adobe Premiere (or other video editing tools), InDesign, Photoshop, and Canva.

You’ll need to have an overarching grasp of the types of creative content which work well across different social media platforms. You’ll be on top of the latest trends and developments, enabling you to respond to briefs with fresh ideas that are contemporary and original and don’t rely on tired, dated formats. Crucially, the way in which you interpret a brief must include standalone thinking for each of the channels and placements requested, so that content always feels native to each app.

It is imperative that the person in this role has exceptional (native-speaker-level) Swahili language skills, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Kenya (its geography, politics, history and culture) is also essential.

The Social Content producer will be required to work 10 days a month between November 2023 March 2024.

Please include a portfolio (or examples of your previous work) along with your application in order for it to be considered.

What you’ll be doing:

· Developing and creating content across short-form video, graphic, image formats and simple animation, as well as Reels and Stories.

· Rapidly digest content briefs and present creative options internally, before developing agreed routes.

· Ensuring content is up-to-date with developments within the context of the campaign’s subject matter, and that it is in tune with the cultural sensitivities of the target audience and their online behaviours.

· Ensuring that all content created is optimized for specific social channels, taking into account all standard considerations around text spaces, safe zones and so on as well as accessibility considerations.

· Generating ideas and creative concepts as part of wider campaign brainstorms within the internal project teams.

· Developing standalone content as well as editing and improving existing materials.

Creative skills required:

· Excellent creative copywriting skills with the ability to write clearly and concisely for different online audiences.

· Confident user of Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator amp; InDesign) as well as a working understanding of Canva.

· Previous professional experience of using video editing software Premiere Pro/Final Cut Pro (Premiere preferred).

· Previous experience of scripting/storyboarding, design and animation.

Social experience required:

· Experience of bringing campaigns to life across multiple digital platforms.

· An understanding of formats required for a range of social channels.

· Keen awareness of current digital design trends.

· Sound editorial judgement and the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of your content.

Other experience required:

· Motivated self-starter, flexible and adaptable to change.

· Comfortable developing content, presenting and communicating in both Swahili and English.

Area of Selection:

We’re committed to hiring a diverse workforce from different professional and cultural backgrounds, and to that end we encourage a variety of people to apply to join our company to represent the diverse range of subjects associated with our projects.
