Job Description

Our Client, an award-winning fastest growing bank, boasting of several other accolades including Best Bank in Micro-Finance, with close to 100 branches country-wide, is seeking to recruit a results-driven and highly motivated leader to join this winning team as the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).


Requirements

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, the Chief Commercial Officer will be responsible for the development and implementation of commercial strategies of the Bank, including overseeing the commercial lending portfolio, taking the lead in defining policies governing commercial aspects of the business and its operations and ensuring that the business fulfills overall budget. In addition, the incumbent will also be responsible for staying abreast of industry and regulator changes, trends and news in order to ensure competitiveness, product, pricing, compliance, and policy alignment.

Key Duties

  • Develop and implement strategies to drive market adoption of new products launched;
  • Provide strategic direction on sales processes that support the achievement of designed KPIs, and customer acquisition amp; retention;
  • Responsible for driving the overall productivity and performance of the commercial banking department;
  • Analyze the bank, assess industry trends, and set viable commercial KPIs/targets. Assess customers’ needs and provide crucial inputs for product development;
  • Participate, monitor, and report on lending activity to ensure a high-quality loan portfolio;
  • Participate in the monitoring of interest rate activity and take action to adjust interest rate structures to ensure a balanced competitive market position, and help minimize the Bank’s exposure to interest rate risk;
  • Responsible for identifying and reporting potential and actual Money Laundering Risk, including suspicious transactions in accordance with the laid down AML/CFT policies amp; procedures;
  • Responsible for the translation of new or revised lending policy and procedure, and training of staff;
  • Provide leadership to the commercial teams and drive the growth of the developing/promising talent, and provide and
  • Develop, coach, motivate and manage the performance of staff in the commercial banking units.

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Be a holder of a business-related Bachelor’s degree gained from a recognized institution. A Master’s Degree in a related field will be an added advantage;
  • A postgraduate qualification in a business-related field will be an added advantage;
  • Must have the knowledge and relevant work experience of not less than fifteen (15) years, with at least seven (7) years served in a senior leadership position in a related role;
  • Demonstrable skills, knowledge, and experience in the design and execution of business plans and strategies;
  • Must have practical experience in all facets of selling lifecycle, including business development, sales, marketing, product management, and channel development, as well as a data-driven approach to marketing planning and execution;
  • Have a thorough understanding of financial management, the Banking Act and regulatory compliance, board reporting, as well as demonstrable commercial and business acumen; and
  • Proven experience in team management, supervision, or leadership, including performance management, people development, coaching, and mentoring experience is critical for this role.
