Job Description

Flare is a fast-growing tech startup building next-gen emergency response. Our 24-hour rescue.co Dispatch Centre provides life-saving services throughout Kenya and our platform powers emergency response for SOS and EMS applications.

Over the last four years, we’ve reduced response times by more than 80% and saved tens of thousands of lives from previously impossible situations. We are growing and looking for experienced and effective leaders to join our team in Nairobi.

We’re looking to hire an HR Lead to help us support our team and advance our efficiency as we increase our headcount. As our first People hire, you’ll play a leading role in laying down processes, structure and reporting for all things hiring, onboarding and capacity building on the team. You’ll work closely with the CEO and management to understand our team capacity needs and growth plans and help us build the right team to fulfill them. We're looking for candidates who comes from a strong KPIs driven organization and have familiarity with helping teams grow to drive capacity.

With us, you will:

  • Own and iterate on all of our People processes, policies, tools and workflows.
  • Manage and track employee professional development.
  • Work closely with team members on their career trajectories.
  • Organise regular team events.
  • Help staff with any HR queries or issues.
  • Provide coaching to team members.
  • Run regular employee engagement sessions.
  • Facilitate employee onboarding.
  • Innovate to boost morale, help retention and increase engagement.

Requirements

  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Hugely organised and naturally proactive.
  • Collaborative skills and ability to work with multiple teams across the business.
  • Start-up attitude - you're comfortable in a rapidly changing environment where the answer is not always clear, working with the resources at hand and delivering high-quality work.
  • 4+ years experience in People, HR or Recruitment.
  • Highly computer literate with good knowledge of HR and Recruitment systems.
  • General knowledge of employment law in Kenya (knowledge of other countries a real bonus).
